1031 Annibale Carracci,

1031 Annibale Carracci, 1560 Bologna – 1609 Rom, zug. Annibale Carracci’s style greatly varies in his œuvre depending on different commissions, but it can be recognized particularly well when comparing the rendition of the putti and children in the painting on offer for sale here with his other works. As, for instance, the putti in the painting Sleeping Venus with Putti held at the Musée Condé, dating to 1602. There are even more conclusive similarities with a painting titled A Cherub carrying Flowers held at the same museum. An English copper engraving created in the 19th century copies the subject of the painting on offer for sale in this lot.
