Hampel Fine Art Auctions - Old Master Paintings - Catalog 3 - September 2018

Besch. Rest. Giacomo di Mino del Pellicciaio, 1315/1319 Siena before 1396 MADONNA AND CHILD Tempera on poplar panel. 100.5 x 52 cm. Unframed. Expert’s report: A copy of the expert’s report by Emilio Negro dated 16 December 2003 is enclosed. It lists comparable examples supporting his attribution. The coral pendant can already be found in an early work by the artist (Madonna and Child, 1342, Chiesa di San Martino, Sarteano) and Negro also lists further similar works held at the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Siena (Polyptych of Mystical Marriage of Saint Catherine). Literature: Regarding placenta symbolism in depictions of the Holy Virgin and Child, please see: R. Frenken, Symbol Plazenta: Pränatalpsychologie der Kunst, Wiesbaden 2016, pp. 238. € 40.000 - € 60.000 INFO | BID Expertise: Dem Gemälde ist in Kopie ein Gutachten von Emilio Negro vom 16. Dezember 2003 beigegeben. Katharina). Literatur: Zur Plazentasymbolik in Darstellungen von Maria mit dem Kinde: Ralph Frenken, Symbol Plazenta: Pränatalpsychologie der Kunst, Wiesbaden 2016, S. 238ff.
