In the library of Sophie of France, Daughter of King Louis XV and Queen Consort Marie Leszczyńska. She is seated at a Louis XVI desk holding a letter in her hands. His daughter Sophie of France (1734 Versailles – 1782 ibid), was the 6 th daughter and 8 th child of Louis XV and his wife Marie Leszczyńska. She was at first known as “Madame Cinquième” and later as “Madame Sophie”. She grew up with her three sisters in Fontevraud Abbey. Along with her older sister Madame Adelaide she resented her father’s mistresses.
