ALBERT MARQUET 1875 Bordeaux – 1947 Paris 487 ALBERT MARQUET, 1875 BORDEAUX – 1947 PARIS LE BATEAU ROUGE À QUAI, UM 1932/34 Öl auf Leinwand, auf Karton. 32,5 x 40,7 cm. Rechts unten signiert „marquet“. In dekorativem vergoldetem Rahmen. Von erhöhtem Standpunkt Blick auf eine Hafenanlage mit einem großen roten Schiff am Kai nahe eines Gebäudes ankernd. Ein weitaus größeres Schiff verlässt gerade das umfasste Hafenbecken. Im Hintergrund das türkisfarbene Meer unter hohem grau-blauem Himmel. Malerei in teils raschem Pinselduktus. Provenienz: Galerie Aktuaryus, Zürich (wahrscheinlich 1936 direkt vom Künstler erworben). Privatsammlung, Europa (1936 von der oben genannten Person erworben). Sein zentrales Thema ist der Zusammenhang von Farbigkeit und Licht sowie der Einfluss von Licht auf Farbe. 1939 ließ er sich bei La Frette an der Seine permanent nieder.
