301 MUSEALES MARMORRELIEF DER SCHULE VON FONTAINEBLEAU DES 16. JAHRHUNDERTS DIANA MIT EINEM HIRSCHEN UND HUNDEN IN LANDSCHAFT 33,5 x 41,5 cm. (†) (12011828) (11) MARBLE RELIEF FROM THE SCHOOL OF FONTAINEBLEAU OF THE 16TH CENTURY OF MUSEUM QUALITY DIANA WITH A STAG AND DOGS IN A LANDSCAPE 33.5 x 41.5 cm. In gilt early Renaissance style aedicule frame. 71 x 73 cm. The high quality marble relief depicts the hunting goddess Diana in the nude. She is shown in an almost sitting position on a cloth in a landscape to the right. The presentation is of very high quality and is formally similar to a painting titled The Nymph of Fontainebleau in the decoration of the gallery of Fontainebleau Palace. In the palace, the water nymph is shown in a similar sitting position but with a hunting dog instead of a stag. Above the initial “F” is shown for François Premier. The relief is crafted from white, fine crystalline marble with beautiful grey aged patina.
