525 Majolika-Krug mit

525 Majolika-Krug mit spätgotischem Dekor Höhe: 17 cm. Durchmesser: 13,5 cm. Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti, "The "Figurato" Maiolica of Montelupo", Florenz, 2012, S. 16 - 21. (9300025) Late Gothic Mailoica jug Height: 17 cm. Diameter: 13.5 cm. Workshop of Montelupo, circa 1470. Small, globular jug with handle and smooth spout. The late Gothic style of decoration combines figurative and abstract-geometrical elements. At the front, there is a stylised portrait of a woman in left-facing profile. Her hair is pinned-up under a bonnet and she wears a striped outer garment. The portrait is framed by a line tracing the outline of the face to form a frame against the abstract-geometrical phyto-ornaments, which take the form of rosettes and arabesques interspersed with dots. The initials 'LD' (?) inscribed where the handle is attached. Painted in cobalt blue on a white ground. Very good condition, minor glazing chips. Restored crack, chips and glazing chips. Notes: These initials appear to point to Montelupo, see Luciana Arbace, Il Conoscitore di Maioliche Italiane del Rinascimento, Milan, 1992, p. 210. Literature: For this type of maiolica painting in Montelupo, see Carmen Ravanelli Guidotti, The 'Figurato' maiolica of Montelupo, Florence, 2012, pp. 16-21. And see Fausto Berti, Storia della ceramica di Monte - lupo. Here, a similar, but a little later, monogram by the workshop of the Sartori and attributed to the craftsmanship of Lorenzo di Pietro di Lorenzo. € 15.000 - € 20.000 526 Majolika-Krug Durchmesser: 13,5 cm.
